Hello all,
I feel it is time to introduce myself, and start discussing my views for the continuation of the club. There may be some changes, but I want your opinions before I move on with them. Before we get to that, let me tell you about myself. It won't be long, I promise!
As you all probably know, my name is Mike Goulty. I am nineteen, and I am a student of sociology, currently studying for my degree in London. When not studying, I volunteer my time with children. I've worked in three schools, special programs for children, and as a Beaver Scout leader.
When not doing that stuff, I am running my own small e-bay business; and looking for work that does not clash with other commitments in London.
I love photography, I am an amateur; but I love what I do. Currently, I am moving into wedding photography... but I've been lazy and only secured one booking... :shame:
I imagine that's enough about me! If you want to know something, ask. I love to talk to new people, and I am always up for a debate! Be warned, I used to debate at competition!
Right, onto the important stuff.
Firstly, I want to apologise to those I have not said hello to yet. I did the first hundred or so watchers, before dA decided I was spamming and would not let me send any more messages. Say hey here, I'd love to meet you all!
I want to change the icon for the club. I have already had feedback from the community saying it needs changing. The thing is; I am rubbish with that kind of thing. If someone wants to make us one, it would be appreciated! See who can make the best, you will get a feature out of it!
The next thing I have been thinking about, is how the club is seen around dA. At the moment, it's not seen as much as it deserves, and as much as you deserve. I want the club to be in a better position within the dA community, and for that to happen we need to be noticed. I want your art to be better promoted. To do this, I will be writing reasonably regular news articles, featuring new deviants and the like.
One change I am considering is changing how we submit. A lot of the bigger clubs submit submissions to their gallery, so they come up in the recently submitted on the front page. This seems to draw in more viewers, thus meaning your art is better seen. Of this course, this does have problems, especially with people faving the club and not the original owner, but we can write under the image not to do so, with a link a link to the original, and disable comments. What do you think? Do you want this change? I will be submitting a poll to ask this, please go and vote.
I want the club to be the best it can be. If you have a suggestion for anything, do say. Promote the club in your journals, in your signature. Make the club as big as it can be... it only helps you and other members get seen!
Thanks,
Mike
Oh, these are this weeks submissions (I am still working out my own system, so this may be at a different time in the week than before/that I had said...)

You could always put a watermark on the photo uploaded on the club, stating that it is a club photo - people will definitely get the message then.

Personally, I tend to agree with you. More viewers and attention = good
The watermark is a good idea, I will definately think about it!
Thanks for your feedback
The only problem with submitting each photo into the gallery and putting a watermark on each is that it will take more time putting them up, and more effort.
oh, and I forgot to say - Welcome! I'm sure you'll do a good job running the club.

That's very true... I had considered that, and will try and think of the best way of doing it.
Thanks!
btw... are you taking submissions?
