So, we've received some hints concerning our gallery being a bit too full or at least some of our members' inboxes getting to full from our submissions Mike and I basically agree that it might be a good idea to introduce a more selective way of accepting portrait photos to the gallery - our main goal being "quality, not quantity!" We'd like to let the club members decide, though - after all it's YOUR club and it's not about what WE like but what you, the members find appealing. So please vote and let us know what you think about it, we're very open for suggestions and feedback

Yes, I think you should set some criteria based on quality first and I think that give an example of what is 'good quality' and what is not would help also to understand something more about our own pictures
that's a good idea - like a visual tutorial... that could even be fun making it

while it may be a solution for lowering the amount of pictures submitted, I don't think that it's a good thing. Everyone should have a chance to have their pictures displayed. A solution would be to 1) reduce the number of pictures that a member is allowed to submit in month 2) make other ways of submitting pictures, e.g. challenges or games for which pictures would be suggested as a fav thus not apearing in the message box, with a massive feature at the end of the game/challenge to bring pictures to members' attention. Such activities would also make members to think and improve themselves.
also, I would like to let you know that I consider the amount of new submissions during the last few days perfectly acceptable for me

Here is an idea: Everyone may suggest only one at a time, i.e. until her/his submition gets accepted, she/he isn't allowed to contribute art again Admins only accept a relatively low number of suggestions daily. Say 20 a day. Mostly in a first come first serve style
It will reduce the number of contributions to an acceptable level, it will also encourage members to choose their own best. It is fair, as if everyone post after her/his contribution was accepted, than everyone gets the same exposure, BUT if someone doesn't contribute that much, (s)he isn't holding up the club. (With a rule like "one a week" if someone doesn't post, than there will be less contributions that week... this way it's a constant number)
I don't think you can have fair criteria on quality... Sometimes what is "out of focus" it's really meant to be, because it has a meaning to it... the quality of art is not a quantitative property that can be decided by an algorithm... it's a matter of personal taste
I know and I totally agree, but I think that (for example) an 'out of focus' picture which is meant to be is recognizable and different from one which is not. Personally, I would try to improve the way I take picture if one of my gets rejected from a club which has a minimum of criteria but it's just a point of view of course
Could you just set the club so from 1 account it would be possible to commit just 1 photo per week or so? People would choose more carefully how to present themselves now. So far it is just overflooding my inbox.

That would cause most members to stop and only choose their best dev's to submit.
